I had a nice call from Wendy-another caravanner here in Tassie who is mutual friends with our friend Julie in Queensland. It seems they will be staying in nearby Cambridge over the weekend so we are going to try to catch up. It'll be great. Friday night we have my Recipezaar mate Peter coming for tea. He likes a bit of seafood and we just happen to have quite a lot in the freezer-it should be fun too.
We drove into Hobart this morning and did a bit of shopping-warm clothes for me and a couple of little things for Kobie's birthday next month, and then had some lunch (Indian).
We had a lady approach us in the shopping centre car park today-she had locked her keys, hand bag and phone in her car. I loaned her my phone to contact RACT who eventually agreed to come out and open it-after putting her on hold for ever, then updating her details etc etc while we waited.....
After all that, we headed up Mt Wellington. We've never been to the summit before as it's either been snowing or covered in cloud. Today it was cloud free. It's is the most amazing view ever, but the wind was the strongest and coldest I have ever had to walk in. It was fairly howling and took my breath away to the point where I had to have my ventolin! We went into a viewing pavillion and it just howled and rattled around that and you couldn't hear anyone talking or yourself think.
We could see back to Ben Lamond (out back of Launceston), Maria and Bruny Island and all the waterways surrounding Hobart. I felt like we were in a plane. Actually on the wing of a Tiger Moth!
On the way home we called into the Cascade Brewery but didn't have suitable shoes to do a tour. The gardens are beautiful but they were suggesting people didn't go out there due to the chance of falling limbs! They have a lovely bar and a nice little menu, so I'd like to go with Blair and Leah next week.
When we got home and watched the news, it had started to snow on Mt Wellington.
